The Taming of the Shrew; The Two Gentlemen of Verona = Приборкання норовливої; Два веронці (American Library)
William Shakespeare's (1564—1616) world-famous comedies "The Taming of the Shrew" and "The Two Gentlemen of Verona" are still relevant today, despite their quite considerable age, as the questions about what true love is and whether it is worth following commonly agreed rules in relationships are everlasting. A classic plot, vibrancy of language, humour flavoured with irony and morality altogether hold a reader's attention and let one apprehend all the depth of the great English playwright's creativity.

The Magic Shop and Other Stories =

The Sonnets (Poems)
The Sonnets are Shakespeare's most popular works, and a few of them have become the most widely-read poems in all of English literature. William Shakespeare was born in April 1564 in the town of Stratford-upon-Avon, on England's Avon River. When he was eighteen, he married Anne Hathaway. The couple had three children-an older daughter Susanna and twins, Judith and Hamnet. Hamnet, Shakespeare's only son, died in childhood. The bulk of Shakespeare's working life was spent in the theater world of London, where he established himself professionally by the early 1590s. He enjoyed success not only as a playwright and poet, but also as an actor and shareholder in an acting company. Although some think that sometime between 1610 and 1613 Shakespeare retired from the theater and returned home to Stratford, where he died in 1616, others believe that he may have continued to work in London until close to his death.

Romeo and Juliet =

The Merchant of Venice = Венеційський купець (English Library)
"The Merchant of Venice" is among the most famous comedies of the brilliant English poet and playwright William Shakespeare (1564—1616). Two plotlines interweave within — a story of a romantic courtship and a conflict on the verge of tragedy, driven by lust for vengeance. Through the lighthearted form of comedy, the author recreates the complicated essence of human relations and how capricious one's superiority could be, for everything is often based on mere chance. Yet youth, love, and feminine insights and shrewdness are capable of handling every situation.

Hamlet, Prince of Denmark = Гамлет, принц данський (English Library)
The tragedy "Hamlet, Prince of Denmark" by William Shakespeare (1564—1616) is one of the best-known dramatic works of world literature. Even among Shakespeare's masterpieces, "Hamlet" stands out for its exquisite depth, the intricacy of the contents and problems. The plot of the tragedy goes back to the ancient Scandinavian saga about vendetta. But in the image of Hamlet, before us there arises not an ordinary personage-revenger but a thinker, a new human being who tries to comprehend his time, his relations with his friends and enemies; and, as a result, he arrives at a conclusion that the world is imperfect, mercenary, and treacherous; and that there is no harmony in it which his soul is craving for.
