The book "Tests in English: Word-Formation" consists of several parts in which prefixal and suffixal word-formation, compounding and abbreviation are being considered. Each part contains short theoretical explanations and exercises for mastering the ways of word-formation and consolidating acquired skills at applying them. The keys to all the exercises are given at the end of the book. The manual is intended for intermediate and advanced students and, as it is hoped, it can also be useful to teachers of English.

The manual is an exercise book aimed at systemizing and consolidating the acquired skills at using most wide-spread structures of the English language. The method of paraphrase, or the transformation of the given structure into a new one without any or very little change in its meaning, is being used in the manual. Short explanations for the exercises with the examples will help to better understand and learn the used structures. The book is intended for intermediate and advanced students as well as the teachers of Englilsh.
